dead and breakfast

This town is not my home, I’m not a regular
I’m not even welcome here anymore
The aroma is kind to my tongue, but it’s not what I need
The intoxicants are killing me
Here I am seated, will you serve me or ignore me
My table is full and you can’t be bothered for time
I sit impatiently waiting for you to take notice
Lock eyes and take this mess you left for me to find

If this is coffee, please bring some tea; but if this is tea, please bring some coffee

It’s far too late now to blame it on the cow’s diet
Her milk is not what tainted the beans
You mix the colors in one it all looks the same
But it’s hard to mask something you can’t see
Is something wrong here, was I unclear with my words
Am I speaking the language of a long dead tribe
I told you what I desired, you seemed to nod and agree
Then you brought me this hodgepodge and split like the Red Sea

If this is coffee, please bring some tea; but if this is tea, please bring some coffee

I hate to tell you how to do your job
But I have a feeling I’ve been robbed
Maybe if you wrote my order down, word by word
We wouldn’t be here now
Is this how you treat all your customers
Is this why no one stays for leftovers
The clientele seems to change as fast as the day
I’m starting to see why this place is always empty

If this is coffee, please bring some tea; but if this is tea, please bring some coffee

double vision

Left down on your own Avenue
Why pretend you don’t know the signs on the road
Waiting for darkness just to say you’re lost
Is no way to find your way back home

You know where you’ve been, you should know just where you are
It’s not the stars that light the night; it’s the night that lights the stars

The lights shine the truth all over you
Tire marks show where you left the road
Sure the dirt can be washed clean
But it doesn’t mean it never took hold

You know where you’ve been, you should know just where you are
It’s not the stars that light the night; it’s the night that lights the stars

And now in a weakened state
You find yourself looking for answers to your pain
Conveniently forgetting it was your direction
That made things this way

You know where you’ve been, you should know just where you are
It’s not the stars that light the night; it’s the night that lights the stars

Like scabs that bled
It’s time to heal and fade away
But you’re too caught up in the taste of your own blood
To realize you can live any other way

You know where you’ve been, you should know just where you are
It’s not the stars that light the night; it’s the night that lights the stars

only the shadows come

She sits under tinted glass waiting
For table legs to break
But when that moment finally comes
Her courage fades and she runs
An attempt to save face
To scared to looked used up
Even if that use was granted
Even if that use was in the name of love

Stand down
No one's chasing you
Only the shadows come

The monsters sleep till noon
A solitary cave of doom
The cold air keeps her safe
From the heat inside that brain
In a moment of truth
The claws tare away
What we find is only tissue
What we create can take its place

Stand down
No one's chasing you
Only the shadows come

And what we reap, we may sow
But no ones hungry anymore
The seeds you’ve planted
Have gone bad, we all know
The fire is waiting
To burn your crops into the dirt
Deconstruction is not destruction
Understand this and you’ll stop feeling hurt

Stand down
No one's chasing you
Only the shadows come

shut the front door

Living the fast track
Fighting the heart attacks
Cheating on love with inner demons
Sex now cold like winter seasons
It’s a gun show
And you brought your arrows
Sure the targets just as far
But you can’t match a bullet

Somebody shut the door, we’re letting all the warm out
Somebody shut that door, I’m not trying to heat the world

Falling backwards
Over my own words
If I hadn’t smacked the cold concrete
I could have lived without them
But now they haunt me
They stole my virginity
And I don’t just want it back
I want payment in return

Somebody shut the door, we’re letting all the warm out
Somebody shut that door, I’m not trying to heat the world

And this could be the last time
There’s no doubt in my mind
The feelings get weaker with every rising tide
And sure I could swim again
But it’s that lose that does me in
Cause when you lose a friend you love
It’s like going back in time
I’m so sick of watching the waves pass be by

Somebody shut the door, we’re letting all the warm out
Somebody shut that door, I’m not trying to heat the world

le silence

If saying less is more, what is saying nothing
When silence is all we have, who takes the floor
In our silent reflections, you keep me guessing
Pausing for my chance to shut the door

Argument from silence, roses stay, on lips they lay

In adolescent minds, we sit in corners still
Index fingers to closed lips, eating what we kill
Inner stillness gives nothing, but danger incoming
Chasing the calm, within the storm

Argument from silence, roses stay, on lips they lay

Conclusions based on lack of any solid facts
What we don’t say, says so much more
Is it ignorance or blindness, that keeps the voice inside us
Abduct the reason to this silent war

Argument from silence, roses stay, on lips they lay

island bound

With anchors down, a captive captain captivated
Wind at our backs we’re sailing an open sea
Empty shells house sounds only heard when found
Blinding sun in our eyes we’re calling for mutiny

All hands on deck, this vessel is going down
All hands on deck, we’re island bound

Faster to disaster, as the waves dance valiantly
Kamikaze water fighters crashing to our hull
Surface tensions grow, no safe way to go
Death before dishonor, the white ship sent to slaughter

All hands on deck, this vessel is going down
All hands on deck, we’re island bound

No lighthouse, no bridge of moonlight
Only the darkness lights our way
Searching for a land of hope, which no one knows
Finding the edge of our desires and nothing more

All hands on deck, this vessel is going down
All hands on deck, we’re island bound

lost Lenore

I had a vision, too dark to see
A dead raven that was still calling me
The harsh sound put me down
But the song it wasn’t clear
Tried to envision, her plans for me
The terror in me was a welcome agony
My chamber door made no sound
Our love's a forgotten lore

Dreaming by the day, to find what is lost on me
For when at night I lay, the dark is all I see

My excision, was plain to see
I implore that this shell it wasn’t me
The dreary man that you found
Could care nevermore
The omission, feed all you seen
Empty fowl birthed of mothered vanity
Velvet lined the crown
With no room for more

Dreaming by the day, to find what is lost on me
For when at night I lay, the dark is all I see

Tapping magician, no hands to see
Till the rapping completely raptures me
The absence fills the sound
Night’s Plutonian shore
Loves mortician, she buried me
An inquisition, Roman Catholics after me
A heresy towards our love
And a lost Lenore

Dreaming by the day, to find what is lost on me
For when at night I lay, the dark is all I see

one way street

She put her burnt hands, behind her heavy head
Said I surrender, have nothing left to give
The white flag it danced, it made those eyes shine
And just as soon as she ran, she found arms to climb
The embrace did her good, it even erased
Gave back what he took, lifted the face
But as she exposed her hands, back from her head
She found in those hands, nothing left to give

Sure you can run and hide
But where will you go when you’re tired
Love is a one way street
And you’re headed the wrong way

He put his gasoline hands, to his hollow head
Said I don’t remember letting this love in
But now that she’s gone, it’s all his eyes see
All the blame that he gave, was caused by his greed
From closing his heart, so long ago
In hopes of forgetting all the pain he once showed
Too scared to feel love and have it ripped away
So when he found it again, he never bothered to change

Sure you can run and hide
But where will you go when you’re tired
Love is a one way street
And you’re headed the wrong way

Now in the end it would seem
They both shard the same distant dream
It was only the timing that kept them apart
He gave into love and she just gave out
It was only a matter of time
She’d give up on a love that was dying
So now he lives with the ghost of what their love could’ve been
As she dances on their grave never to trust his love again

Sure you can run and hide
But where will you go when you’re tired
Love is a one way street
And you’re headed the wrong way
